About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Diploma/Degree Qualified Educational Leader to join our dynamic team and support our commitment to providing exceptional early childhood education and care. In this role, you will lead and inspire pedagogical practice, mentor educators to reflect on and improve their teaching, and ensure that the educational program is engaging, inclusive, and aligned with the National Quality Framework.
You will report directly to the Service Manager, Nominated Supervisors, and the service Leadership Team, and work collaboratively with Believe Early Learning educators, families, and the community to deliver excellence in early childhood education while upholding Believe Early Learning’s commitment to safeguarding and protecting children in our care.

What You’ll Do
- Lead Educational Excellence: Provide leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating a high-quality educational program aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Standards (NQS), and the service’s philosophy. Guide educators in planning and delivering curriculum that supports children’s learning, development, and wellbeing. Foster reflective practice and mentor educators to adopt their own authentic documentation styles.
- Child Protection and Safety: Promote a safe and nurturing environment by ensuring effective supervision and implementation of health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments. Stay current with Child Safe Standards and support staff in understanding their child protection responsibilities.
- Curriculum Leadership and Programming: Collaborate with educators to ensure the planning cycle is embedded in practice. Support transitions across rooms and to school. Ensure curriculum decisions are informed by observations, children’s interests, and developmental milestones. Use reflective discussions to improve teaching practices and promote intentional learning experiences.
- Build Relationships: Develop and maintain respectful, trusting relationships with children, families, and staff. Lead the team to foster inclusive and culturally responsive practices that respect every child’s identity and cultural background.
- Environmental Responsibility: Promote sustainable practices and environmental awareness through teaching and example. Guide the setup and maintenance of aesthetically pleasing and safe indoor and outdoor environments that encourage exploration, creativity, and learning.
- Uphold Standards and Leadership in Practice: Ensure ongoing compliance with service policies, the National Law and Regulations, and maintain readiness for Assessment and Rating. Contribute to the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), guide ethical conduct, and promote professional growth within the team.
Detailed Role Expectations Across Quality Areas
Quality Area 1: Educational Program and Practice
- Lead, support, and model best practice in curriculum planning, implementation, and assessment.
- Support educators in developing documentation that reflects children’s learning and aligns with the service’s philosophy.
- Encourage critical reflection and collaborative dialogue to drive continuous improvement.
Quality Area 2: Children’s Health and Safety
- Ensure children are always supervised and safe, with practices in place for hygiene, medication, sleep, and risk minimization.
- Actively use resources like Staying Healthy in Child Care (6th Edition) as reference tools for best practices.
Quality Area 3: Physical Environment
- Guide educators in creating inviting, purposeful, and regulation-compliant environments.
- Encourage environmentally sustainable practices and facilitate nature-based learning.
Quality Area 4: Staffing Arrangements
- Model and promote ethical conduct, respect, and a collaborative culture among staff.
- Actively participate in staff meetings, training, and in-service development.
Quality Area 5: Relationships with Children
- Uphold each child’s rights and dignity, support emotional regulation, and foster secure, respectful relationships.
- Promote cultural competence and positive behaviour guidance strategies.
Quality Area 6: Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities
- Build authentic, two-way partnerships with families.
- Facilitate family involvement in programming, goal setting, and cultural celebrations.
Quality Area 7: Governance and Leadership
- Support the nominated supervisor in implementing effective leadership and governance practices.
- Contribute to policy reviews, team mentoring, and readiness for assessment and rating processes.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent).
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis.
- Completed Child Protection Training.
- Sound knowledge of the EYLF, NQS, National Law and Regulations, and the full programming cycle.
- Understanding of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
- A deep commitment to safeguarding children and upholding their rights.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with an ability to inspire, guide, and support team members professionally and ethically.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of health, hygiene, safety, and risk management in early childhood environments.
- A commitment to cultural inclusivity, anti-bias practices, and respect for diversity.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and a collaborative team culture.
- Recent National Police Check (within the last 6 months).
